Dutch Design Awards Foundation (Stichting Nederlandse Designprijzen)
Initiated in 2007. Event style including: advertising, catalogue, poster, website, entry tickets, graphic design for exhibition.
For the fifth and final time, Studio Dumbar has designed the event style for the Dutch Design Awards. We were asked to develop a style which positions the Dutch Design Awards as an exclusive design competition with high quality standards.
To create a recognisable style with minimal means, three basic elements were used as a starting point for the designs: the sash (ribbon) that refers to the competition element of winning, modest and clear typography and intriguing texts and photography by photographer Krista van der Niet.
The result is a strong event style with a unique theme, text and photo for each individual medium. The concept for this year’s event style is based on the idea that each medium used (poster, advertisement, invitation, website, etcetera) has its own function and target group, depending on the phase of the communication campaign it is used for.
In order to get the maximum communication effect with this event style, the design of each item was adjusted to its particular function and target group (designers/students/clients/audience).
